The Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s original approval of the Banking Code was subject to the Australian Banking Association (ABA) commissioning an independent review of the definition of ‘small business’ in the Code within 18 months of the Code’s commencement.

In September 2020, the ABA appointed Pottinger to conduct an independent review of the definition of small business under the Code.

The BCCC made a submission to the review, following consultation with its Small Business and Agribusiness Advisory Panel.
